A Smart Foundation,
a New Beginning

There's a lot to report these days, just in time for spring. Positive company news and earnings emerge almost daily. IridiumGroup has relocated offices to Fifth Avenue and we have some fresh faces on our team. In addition, we are presently back in what I would term a modest, strategic hiring phase. Since last fall we began to see the inklings of new business on the horizon. Like a glacier retreating, the grip of a bitter recession slowly continues to recede.

The era of cautious recovery may well be over as we move into a global growth phase. I'm happy to see the signs and I hope that you are enjoying the same hints of renaissance that we're seeing.

Let's plan a time to discuss how we can improve your brand. After all, a market rich with opportunity should be the mother of reinvention.

Rebirth of a Company

New Spaces. IridiumGroup has relocated to 276 Fifth Avenue and we have outfitted our new space with all the latest newfangled media and technology. We are: Brand consultants, strategists, creative leaders, writers, technologists, we are at the top of our game and positioned nicely to meet the new market. Please plan to drop by to visit us in our new space.

New Faces. We have a new senior designer, Dana Camisa, and a new junior account manager, Ginie Ying. (Read more about them below.) The exciting part is that there are are more hires to be made. Fresh new capabilities and experience, a renewed sense of shared knowledge and enthusiasm are flourishing at Iridium.

New Internet Bases. What would new office space and a refreshed team be without a proper representation of our work? We reached out to you last summer to assist us by completing a poll about how we could improve our flagship website. You spoke and we listened. Now, after months of hard work, we have the proverbial feather in our cap to show for it. To see the new website, visit www.iridiumgroup.com. Please share your opinions and suggestions for how we can make it even better.

You can also "friend" us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/iridiumgroup, or follow us on Twitter @dwayneflinchum. We are grateful for the opportunities we have had to serve you and for the bright new future that is clearly ahead of us. I'm personally thankful for the passionate, smart, talented team that we have here at 276 Fifth. It's a new era and I can't think of another group of talented writers, designers and developers that I'd choose to have by my side.

Q&A Dana Camisa, Senior Designer

Dana joins Iridium with extensive experience in a broad range of creative services for clients such as CB Richard Ellis, Cushman & Wakefield, Mack-Cali, Reuters, Hess Energy Marketing, and CNBC, among others. She has led the development of comprehensive corporate identity systems and creatively executed all forms of marketing and brand identity products from strategic literature to interactive tools.

1. Where were you born and raised?
I was born in New York to two lifelong New Yorkers, and raised in Sparta, New Jersey, where I spent the majority of my childhood outside climbing trees and running through sprinklers.

2. What are your greatest passions? How do you spend your time on the weekends?
As an artist and a designer, I have a great passion and appreciation for beauty. I have memories of laying on the grass as a child, and staring up at the sky in search of images in the clouds. I love being outside, and I feel most at peace when I am on the beach, which serves as a huge inspiration for me artistically. Any given weekend during the summer you can find me there relaxing, sketching, reading...

3. Describe the one thing you most love about your job as a senior designer in branding.
Oddly enough, I enjoy exercising both sides of my brain. The methodical and the strategic in combination with the instinctual and the imaginative — branding is the perfect balance for me, and it's a fantastic feeling being able to look at a successful finished product knowing that you played a role in creating it.

4. What do you see at the most interesting change in the current market place?
I find not the change as most interesting, but the speed at which the change occurs. We are moving forward with relentless speed and the competition is fierce. It is challenging to keep up, but fascinating to witness. As a designer, I find the birth of new technologies particularly impressive, especially when considering how they impact my work as a designer. The deliverables for any given project are growing exponentially, with less time to produce more work across even more channels. It's fast-paced and exciting — I love the challenge.

5. Can you share a favorite book, writer, musical band or even film? What art form that you enjoy most?
I am an avid reader, and I always have a book in my bag — and I mean a real, tactile book, made with paper, bound with glue. E-readers may be more convenient, but I prefer to keep it old school. My background has engrained in me a true appreciation for printed, tactile materials — I consider each book a piece of art and I cherish my collection.

Q&A Ginie Ying, Account Manager

Ginie joined IridiumGroup after years of experience in both marketing and advertising. She had a variety of positions in the fields, including developing marketing strategies at The New York Times, research and product development at Snackable Media, and analyses of advertising metric reports at EyeWonder.

Ginie Ying

1. Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Bayside, New York. I am fluent in Mandarin-Chinese, and I can understand and speak a little Cantonese as well.

2. What are your greatest passions? How do you spend your time on the weekends?
I love the opportunity to take on entirely new projects and create fresh ideas. That is why I have a passion for entrepreneurship. During my free time, I enjoy dreaming up new business ideas that could help improve people's lives in some way. Currently, my ideal business idea would most likely be a type of website service or app.

3. Can you share a favorite book, writer, musical band or even film? What art form do you enjoy most?
I can't say that I have a favorite film, because there are so many phenomenal films, but one of my favorites at the moment would be "In the Mood for Love," a film set in Hong Kong about two neighbors, a man and a woman, who form a strong bond. Directed by Kar Wai Wong, the film was so mesmerizing because of the elegance of the acting, the costumes, and the music, as well as my personal connection to Hong Kong. I love films for this reason — they are able to paint a different world for an hour or so and during that time, stir emotions and create a memorable experience for you.
